Dr. Kamran Haghighat has dedicated himself to pursuing the highest levels of clinical and research training and has been highly decorated during his academic training. He has an exceptionally strong background in all phases of current and modern Periodontal Therapy and Implant Dentistry.
He obtained his Dental Degree from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in England. After a three-year hospital-based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the renowned Middlesborough General Hospital and a further three years gaining a broader experience in the general private practice sector, he completed a three-year residency in Periodontology at The Ohio State University.
He received his specialty certificate and concurrently completed a Masters Degree in Periodontology. His research centered on new grafting materials for bone regeneration procedures.
Dr. Haghighat is dual board certified. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology which signifies he is a board-certified periodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology which symbolizes he has achieved the highest level of competence in implant dentistry. This degree measures the in-depth knowledge, proficient skills, and abilities required to provide comprehensive, safe, and effective oral implant care. There are fewer than 600 doctors who have earned this degree, making Dr. Haghighat a leading expert in implant dentistry.
After completing his work at OSU, he took a position as Assistant Professor and Director of Pre-Doctoral Periodontology at Oregon Health and Sciences University where he taught at the Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral levels.
Dr. Haghighat actively continues to collaborate in research involving implants and bone-grafting materials. He is the author of numerous professional publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and lectures to national and international audiences on surgical implant therapy and regenerative medicine.
He practices in the Downtown Portland and Lake Oswego areas and offers the full scope of surgical and non-surgical periodontal treatment with an emphasis on periodontal plastic and esthetic surgery, hard and soft tissue augmentation procedures as well as over 20 years experience in dental implantology.
Dr. Kamran Haghighat has been featured as Best Dentist in Portland Monthly Magazine as chosen by his peers. He enjoys the Arts and takes advantage of the outdoors activities Oregon has to offer.
Dr. Haghighat is also a member of several professional organizations that include: American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, and is a Fellow at the International Team of Implantology (ITI).
